Harvard University’s English Department reinvited a controversial Irish poet who once said West Bank settlers should be “shot dead.” One week after his appearance was canceled because of his anti-Israeli comments, members of the department met for two hours Wednesday and voted to reinvite Tom Paulin. “Free speech was a principle that needed upholding here,” English professor Peter Sacks said Wednesday night.
