An Israeli parole board heard convicted nuclear spy Mordechai Vanunu’s request for early release. At Sunday’s closed-door session, Vanunu’s lawyer argued that former Foreign Minister Shimon Peres disclosed more information to the public on Israel’s nuclear capabilities in a television interview last year than his own client has ever been aware of, thereby nullifying the claim that Vanunu’s release endangers state security.
