The British Medical Journal came out against efforts by academics in Britain and elsewhere to boycott their Israeli colleagues. “Our position is based primarily on support for the ‘universality of science,’ ” which “explicitly rules out boycotts on the basis of citizenship, gender, religion or color,” the journal’s editor, Dr. Richard Smith, wrote in the Jan. 3 issue.
