President Bush did not mention the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in his State of the Union speech. Bush had contemplated addressing the issue in his speech to Congress on Tuesday but is frustrated by the stalled peace process and has postponed any major policy initiative until later this year, his aides said. In their response to the president, Democrats assailed Bush for allegedly abandoning the issue.
