New details emerged about the life of an Italian policeman who saved thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. Between 1937 and 1944, Giovanni Palatucci saved some 3,500 Jews by falsifying their Nazi deportation orders. Palatucci saved the Jews from the town of Fiume, which was then under Italian control in the northern part of the country, and is today Rijeka, in Croatia, said Baruch Tenembaum of the Raoul Wallenberg Foundation.
