The Reform movement said a bill to restrict courts from defining marriage could threaten U.S. religious liberties. The Religious Action Center for Reform Judaism urged lawmakers Wednesday to reject the Marriage Protection Act of 2004, which it said would set a precedent of denying federal courts authority to hear cases on controversial issues, such as religious liberty.
