Ariel Sharon said he would press ahead with a plan to remove Israeli settlements from the Gaza Strip. “I have decided to go ahead with the disengagement plan because it is obvious Israel cannot stay in Gaza forever,” political sources on Monday quoted the Israeli prime minister as saying.
