More than 100 people have signed a letter asking the Bush administration to support new monitoring and reporting of international anti-Semitic incidents. Secretary of State Colin Powell has expressed opposition to the Global Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, which would require the State Department to file an annual report on anti-Semitism around the world, because it would show “favoritism” toward Jews, and said anti-Semitic incidents are chronicled in other reports.
