The British government will exempt Holocaust survivors from paying taxes on compensation payments from foreign banks. The move, which follows months of lobbying by the Association of Jewish Refugees, will apply to awards such as those made for dormant Swiss bank accounts under a $1.25 billion settlement reached in 1998.
