President Bush encouraged those observing a week of prayer and action aimed at stopping the violence in Darfur. Bush wrote a letter Saturday supporting a “Week of Prayer and Action for Darfur” and said the U.S. government “is working to strengthen the Africa Union Mission in Sudan to protect innocent civilians and transition to a United Nations mission.”
