Two U.S. senators introduced a resolution calling for the release of three captive Israeli soldiers. The non-binding resolution, introduced Thursday by Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and George Voinovich (R-Ohio), has 10 co-sponsors and follows a visit to Washington by the soldiers’ families. “The resolution condemns Hamas and Hezbollah for crossborder attacks that led to the kidnappings last year and urges the militant groups to allow prompt medical treatment of the soldiers by representatives of the International Red Cross,” said a statement from the office of Clinton, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president. “It also expresses vigorous support and unwavering commitment to the welfare and survival of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state and encourages strong support and deep interest in achieving a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
