Libby found guilty

A jury convicted Lewis “Scooter” Libby of four of five counts in a perjury trial.Libby, who is Jewish, was a top adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney and was among top Bush administration officials who leaked the identity of Valerie Plame, a CIA operative, to reporters in 2003 as part of a campaign to discredit her husband, Joseph Wilson, a prominent Iraq war critic.Prosecutors decided against charges related to the leak of classified information but went forward with charges that Libby obscured his role in the leak from prosecutors. The jury convicted him on one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury and one count of false statement of facts. It acquitted him on an another count of false statement of facts. Lawyers for Libby said he would appeal the conviction. A sentencing date has yet to be set.
