Israel’s ambassador to Washington presented a righteous gentile medal to the son of a Ukrainian woman who hid a young Jewish woman during the Holocaust.

Israel’s ambassador to Washington presented a righteous gentile medal to the son of a Ukrainian woman who hid a young Jewish woman during the Holocaust.

Nikolay Zamoroko of Ellicott City, Md., accepted the award on behalf of his late mother, Yevgenia Zamoroko-Lysenko.

Sallai Meridor presented the medal, which is issued by Israel’s Yad Vashem Holocaust remembrance authority, on Sept. 6 at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
