Israeli troops killed an armed Palestinian teenager in the West Bank.
Soldiers patrolling Ramallah early Monday shot dead a 16-year-old who was spotted preparing a bomb for an attack. His factional affiliations were not immediately clear.
There were no Israeli casualties in the incident.
Israel has recently stepped up security measures in the West Bank to prevent attacks by Hamas and other terrorist groups intent on scuttling an upcoming U.S.-sponsored peace conference between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
