Talks between China and Israel on a nuclear Iran ended in a stalemate.

Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni wrapped up meetings in Beijing Tuesday without convincing Chinese officials that additional sanctions by the United Nations are needed to stop Iran from making nuclear weapons.

China is sticking to its stance that a negotiated settlement is still possible. Its permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council entitles China to veto any proposed U.N. sanctions against Iran.
