Adelson flew Giuliani for campaign

Rudy Giuliani uses aircraft owned by Sheldon Adelson, a top donor to Jewish causes, for presidential campaign flights.

Adelson, a Las Vegas casino magnate believed to be the sixth richest man in the world, is also a major donor to Republican Party candidates.

He has not declared for a candidate yet, but he has raised funds and donated to Giuliani’s campaign and is one of several multimillionaires flying the former New York mayor and his entourage on campaign stops, the New York Daily News reported this week.

Until Sept. 14 of this year, candidates could reimburse the plane owners with the cost of a first class flight ticket – a fraction off the actual cost of the private flight. Congress banned the system, seeing it as a backdoor method of funding campaigns beyond legal limits.

Other candidates, including Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.) had abjured the practice.
