Hamas fires 40 rockets at Israel

Palestinians fired some 40 rockets at Israel from Gaza. Israel retaliated with air strikes.

About half the rockets fired from the Hamas-run strip on Thursday landed inside Israeli territory, including the town of Sderot, where the rockets damaged several homes. No casualites were reported.

Israel retaliated with air strikes on Thursday and Friday, destroying the former Interior Ministry in the Gaza Strip, which was taken over by Hamas in June 2007, and killing at least eight Palestinians. Three were civilians, according to reports.

In the West Bank, Israeli troops killed a militant member of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah faction during an undercover operation in the city of Nablus.
