Hezbollah fingers Israel in assassination

Hezbollah said it has proof Israeli agents were behind the assassination of its terror chief.

“We have clear, 100 percent proof, which cannot be doubted, that Israel headed the assassination,” Hezbollah deputy chief Naim Kassem said Friday at a memorial for Imad Mughniyeh, who died last month in a car bombing in Damascus.

Israel has denied involvement in the killing of Mughniyeh, who was also on the U.S. and French wanted lists for nearly a quarter-century.

Israel and its missions abroad are on high alert for fear Hezbollah may mount revenge attacks by Monday, which marks the end of the 40-day Shi’ite mourning cycle for Mughniyeh.

Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who threatened “opened war” against Israel at Mughniyeh’s funeral, is expected to make another address Monday.
