Arson suspected in Miami synagogue fire

Police are investigating a Miami Beach synagogue fire as possible arson.

The Chabad House synagogue was severely damaged by a fire Tuesday night, and its rabbi suspects arson because a piece of the shul’s Torah was found on the front lawn while the rest of the Torah could not be found.

A police official agreed that could be a sign of arson, The New York Times reported.

Another Miami synagogue suffered fire damage last October, and police said they will now reinvestigate that fire.

Rabbi Zev Katz said he was devastated but that the synagogue would hold Shabbat services on its front lawn.

“We are going to show people that we are not quitting,” Katz told the Times.
