Yad Vashem launched a Hebrew channel on YouTube.
The channel, which began operations Thursday, joins the English and Arabic Yad Vashem channels that were launched last month and have had more than 600,000 views.
The Hebrew channel, which will have content and video clips added on a regular basis, contains testimonials of Holocaust survivors, archival photographs, a virtual tour of the new Holocaust History Museum and stories of families that have been reunited decades after they were separated during the Holocaust.
“The presence of Yad Vashem on YouTube is extremely important in view of the disinformation and lies disseminated on the Internet in respect to the Holocaust,” said Yad Vashem chairman Avner Shalev.
“We feel privileged that Yad Vashem uses YouTube as a distribution platform for their content and message,” said Professor Yossi Matias, the head of Google’s research and developement center in Tel Aviv. “Their channels will allow them to bring this important content to new audiences around the world and will help people everywhere remember this horrendous chapter in the history of mankind.”
YouTube is owned by Google.
