LONDON (JTA) — More than 200 Jews and Israelis living in London who are considering moving to Israel attended a meeting with Israeli tax experts.
The large turnout at Tuesday’s meeting may be due to changes in Israeli tax laws that will enable people to live in Israel and continue their businesses abroad.
About 50 people are expected to attend a similar meeting scheduled for Wednesday in Manchester.
The Israeli government and the Jewish Agency are launching an advertising campaign aimed at Jews and Israelis who live abroad that explains the new tax regime.
Israel’s ambassador to London, Ron Prosor, told the meeting that “the tax reform is attractive and efficient.”
The economic attache at the Israeli Embassy in London, Shmuel Ben Tovim, said after the meeting that many of those who attended already had started the aliyah process. Attendees were able to hold personal meetings with the tax experts and Jewish Agency representatives for assistance in their planned move to Israel.
