JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel’s foreign minister said other governments should stay out of Israeli politics.

At a meeting of his Yisrael Beiteinu Party, Avigdor Lieberman said Israel’s government will work to "formulate the policy compatible with our world view and as the voters wanted in the elections," the Jerusalem Post reported.

But, Lieberman cautioned, "This will not happen overnight, and they should not stand over us with a stopwatch in hand."

"We have never interfered in the affairs of others, and we expect from others that they not interfere in ours," he added.

Lieberman told the meeting that the focus should be moved from the Palestinians to Iran, which he said is a much graver threat.
