JERUSALEM (JTA) — Palestinian police shot and wounded two undercover Israeli soldiers in the West Bank city of Kalkilya.
One of the policemen also was wounded in an ensuing shootout with the Israeli soldiers, who entered the Palestinian city in a civilian vehicle.
The policemen had mistaken the soldiers for armed Palestinians. The Israel Defense Forces did not coordinate the military activity with the Palestinian police, according to Israel Radio.
The Palestinian Authority said it would be willing to investigate the incident together with the IDF.
