JERUSALEM (JTA) — Egyptian police arrested a group affiliated with al-Qaida for the bombing of a Cairo market that killed a French teen.
The seven members of the cell, which called itself the Islamic Army of Palestine, included a French woman of Albanian background, a British man of Egyptian background, two Palestinians, a Belgian man of Tunisian background and two Egyptians.
The February attack on the popular Khan al-Khalili bazaar killed the French tourist and injured 24.
The cell had also planned attacks outside of Egypt, the Egyptian interior ministry said, according to the French News Agency, AFP. Some cell members had also received military training in the Gaza Strip, reaching it through smuggling tunnels dug under the Gaza-Egypt border.
