JERUSALEM (JTA) — An American-born Israeli pediatrician won Israel’s second season of Survivor.

Tel Aviv resident Arik Alper, whose mother is American and who lived in Queens, N.Y., until the age of 7, won the contest finale late Saturday night despite being physically inferior to other contestants, including two Israeli Navy SEALS.

Alpher, whose skills lay in creating alliances with fellow players and for being what he called a "good liar" during his 52 days in Panama’s Pearl Islands, won the grand prize of 1 million shekel (about $253,000) and a new Jeep.
