JERUSALEM (JTA) — Cyprus prevented two boats filled with aid and activists from leaving for the Gaza Strip.

The Free Gaza Movement planned to take more than 30 activists from 16 countries, medical supplies and cement to Gaza on Thursday in violation of Israel’s blockade of Israel, but Cypriot shipping officials prevented the boats from leaving port, saying they violated inspection requirements.

Since last August, the two boats have made seven aid voyages to Gaza. Free Gaza is planning three trips to the coastal strip this summer.
