VIENNA (JTA) — Vandals damaged or toppled more than 60 tombstones in a Jewish cemetery in the Czech Republic.

Local reports said the incident in Uhersky Ostroh was discovered Sunday morning by a woman who went to the cemetery to visit the graves of relatives.

Damage was estimated at more than $20,000.

The cemetery dates from 1863, but it includes tombstones from the 16th century that were brought there from an older cemetery demolished in the 1950s.
