JERUSALEM (JTA) — Six Arab families have appealed their eviction from a building in eastern Jerusalem.

In the appeal filed Wednesday in Jerusalem District Court, the families said they were improperly evicted from apartments in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood since not every individual family unit received orders to move out. The heads of the families are brothers.

Jews moved in following the eviction of 53 people earlier this month. The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court ruled that the rights to the property were held by a Sephardic Jewish organization dating to the period of the British Mandate.
