KIEV, Ukraine (JTA) — An Israeli delegation is in Ukraine to study the efficiency of a new immigration program.

Minister of Immigrant Absorption Sofa Landver is heading the ministry’s delegation, which began its six-day official visit on Tuesday.

The main aim of the visit is to examine the Idud Aliyah program, launched more than a month ago in Dnepropetrovsk and Chernovtsy. The program was designed to encourage immigration to Israel.

Delegates are scheduled to meet members of Ukraine’s government, notably the minister for social maintenance, to discuss the issue of state payment of pensions to elderly emigres from Ukraine living in Israel.
