JERUSALEM (JTA) — Mail distribution in Israel was halted after the discovery of two packages suspected of being parcel bombs.
The packages, containing wires and a battery, were discovered Monday at a postal branch in the northern Israel town of Migdal Haemek. They were both addressed to the same woman, according to reports.
Police sappers arrived at the scene and neutralized the package. Police then began to search mail depots and warehouses throughout the country.
The public was advised to be alert when opening mail.
Police have placed a gag order on most aspects of the case.
