JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Google street view map service will come to Israel after being granted permission by the country’s Justice Ministry.

The online mapping tool, which provides 3-D view of buildings, landmarks and streets in 27 countries, has come under fire from privacy advocates.

The Israeli Justice Ministry’s Law, Information and Technology Authority on Sunday set several conditions on its approval, including the right for residents to request further blurring of residences and license plates.

Israeli officials reportedly had been concerned that the service would be used by terrorists to plan attacks in Israel. Google reportedly plans to photograph only Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa.
