JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian terrorist was killed during clashes between Israeli soldiers and members of a Gaza terrorist group.
Israeli soldiers fired on a squad of terrorists in southern Gaza, reportedly from the Popular Resistance Committees, who then launched two mortar shells at the soldiers. In response to the mortar fire, Israel’s Air Force targeted the terrorist squad, according to the Israeli military.
One of the terrorists was killed, and a Palestinian boy and his father were injured in the attack, Palestinian sources told Israeli media.
The Popular Resistance Committees has been blamed for the coordinated attacks near Eilat last month in which eight Israelis were killed.
The clash comes a day after the Israeli airstrikes hit a weapons factory in Gaza after rockets from Gaza landed in southern Israel, despite a cease-fire.
