Good news for those who miss the stand up comedy of former SNL star Andy Samberg– the Internet and film star will host the 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards.
Samberg, who recently starred in independent romantic comedy “Celeste and Jesse Forever,” will hand out awards to the winners of the best indie films February 23. Samberg follows suit of his friend, Seth Rogan, who hosted last year’s awards. the LA Times reports.
The indie awards program is not as highly publicized as other popular award programs, like the Oscars or the Golden Globes, but has a smaller budget, which leaves the host the authority to perform more openly. Let’s hope Samberg pulls out some of the classic bits of banter he’s best known for, and not some of recent stuff that flopped at the box office.
