Bethenny Frankel, the Jewish housewife from “Real Housewives of New York City” announced over the weekend she is splitting from her husband, Jason Hoppy, after three years marriage.

“It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating,” she wrote in a statement. “This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family.”

“We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority,” she continued. “This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us.”

Frankel met Hoppy, who she once described as “a regular guy with a regular salary,” at a nightclub in 2008 while filming the Real Housewives series. Shorty after, Frankel starred in a 2010 spinoff show, “Bethenny Getting Married,” which documented her pregnancy and marriage with Hoppy and went on to become Bravo’s highest-rated series premiere, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The show was later stretched into a new series, “Bethenny Ever After,” which followed the couple around New York City with their daughter, Bryn, and displayed the world inside Frankel’s business of low-calorie drinks, Skinnygirl.
