WASHINGTON (JTA) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the "close cooperation" between the Obama administration and his government, particularly on Syria.

Netanyahu made the remarks in a meeting Monday with a bipartisan U.S. congressional delegation — the second time in a week that the Israeli leader met with U.S. lawmakers.

"We’ve had very close cooperation on all things, including the developing matters in Syria, very close cooperation between our two governments," Netanyahu told the bipartisan delegation he met Monday headed by Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.). "I think this is important for the stability of the region, for the security of Israel and it is much appreciated."

Israel and the United State have been closely monitoring the handling of chemical weapons by Syria’s Assad regime as that country is roiled by civil unrest and bloodshed. Israel reportedly struck inside Syrian territory on Wednesday.

Last week, Netanyahu met a bipartisan delegation headed by Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.).
