JERUSALEM (JTA) — Three rockets fired from the Gaza Strip at Israel landed in Gaza territory.

The Code Red siren sounded throughout the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon early Wednesday morning, signifying the launching of rockets from Gaza, but none landed in or near the city.

It was the first rocket fired on Israel since April 20. About 20 rockets have been fired from Gaza on southern Israel this year. Gazan terror groups fired several rockets on Israel in March during the visit by President Obama.

The rockets were fired as world leaders gathered in Jerusalem for the Presidents Conference, which included honoring the 90th birthday of Israeli President Shimon Peres in August.
