(JTA) — Students at the National University of Ireland, Galway, will vote in a referendum on whether to endorse an academic, economic and cultural boycott of Israel.
If passed in Thursday’s vote, the school’s Student’s Union would take part in the boycott in order to protest Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians, according to the Galway Advertiser, a local publication. The school’s Choice Society, Feminist Society and Palestine Solidarity Society have all called for the boycott.
Similar measures have come up for votes at schools across the United States, Canada and Europe. On Tuesday, students at Ontario’s University of Windsor voted to boycott Israel.
