(JTA) — A Jewish graduate student from Providence, R.I., was killed after falling off a cliff in northern India.
Kaitlin Goldstein, 28, an architecture student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, slipped on loose rocks and fell several hundred feet while jogging on June 14.
A competitive runner, Goldstein was in the Ladakh region of India for a program on energy and development.
In a statement, MIT President L. Rafael Reif said Goldstein ”was passionately interested in energy solutions for the developing world, a subject she was exploring in a remote region of northern India at the time of her death.”
“The death of someone so young and promising is a terrible loss; we should all take time to reach out to those around us,” Reif added.
