(JTA) — Frazier Glenn Miller, the man charged with murdering three people outside two Kansas City-area Jewish institutions, declared “Heil Hitler!” immediately afterward, a police officer testified at the start of a preliminary hearing.
The hearing, which began Monday, is being held to determine whether there is enough evidence to put the 74-year-old white supremacist on trial, The Associated Press reported. Some 15 witnesses are expected to testify over three days, according to KSHB Kansas City.
Cross is accused of killing William Corporon and his 14-year-old grandson Reat Underwood outside the Overland Park Jewish Community Center in Kansas, and Terri LaManno at Village Shalom, a nearby Jewish retirement home, last April. None is Jewish. Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty.
Miller’s previous lawyer withdrew from the case in February, citing difficulty communicating with his client.
