Suburban Atlanta district reschedules testing to avoid High Holidays conflict

(JTA) — A suburban Atlanta school district rescheduled testing for its gifted program after local Jewish leaders complained that it conflicted with the Jewish High Holidays.

The DeKalb County School District announced Tuesday that it would change the test dates, which originally had been scheduled to take place on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

The school district, Georgia’s third largest, is among the most diverse in the United States, with 160 nationalities speaking 140 languages represented in its schools, according to WXIA Channel 11, an NBC affiliate.
