(JTA) — A Jewish-Israeli in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of deliberately running over an Arab gas station worker in Jerusalem.

Nachman Gabai, of Jerusalem, was detained Thursday, the Times of Israel reported. The worker was moderately injured in the incident on Israel’s “tunnel road,” which connects southern Jerusalem with the West Bank.

After reviewing security camera footage from the incident, police said Gabai argued with the victim before driving into him. Although Gabai initially told police he had suspected the worker was about to attack him, Gabai later admitted he was not acting in self-defense.

The Times of Israel did not identify the victim or say when the incident occurred.
