(JTA) — Pennsylvania’s governor signed into law a bill that requires companies doing business with the state to certify that they do not boycott or discriminate against any sovereign state, including Israel.

Gov. Tom Wolf signed the legislation on Friday.

The bipartisan bill passed in the state House of Representatives by a vote of 181-9. In the Senate, the vote was 47-1 in favor.

“We must make clear that we are in favor of a peaceful, negotiated solution to this conflict,” Wolf said of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We will “not encourage economic punishment in place of peaceful solutions to challenging conflicts.”

With Wolf signing the measure, some 14 states have adopted anti-BDS legislation.
