Where Is Gal Gadot’s Golden Globe Nomination?

The Golden Globe nominations are here and “Wonder Woman” is nowhere to be found. The superhero movie directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot singlehandedly changed the comic book movie landscape this past summer. It was hailed as one of the greatest superhero movies of all time and made a boatload of money at the box office, so where is its awards recognition? That’s what the Jerusalem Post wondered (pun intended) when it reported that the movie had been snubbed after the nominations had been announced this morning.

There is still hope for “Wonder Woman,” yet at the Oscars, which has more categories that are suited to the film’s strengths, such as wardrobe, sound mixing and special effects. However, it would be nice to see Jenkins or Gadot getting recognition for their directing and acting, respectively. A female-centric superhero movie that received critical praise and broke a bunch of financial records needs some awards under its belt too.

That’s not to say that Jews were entirely snubbed. Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and Steven Spielberg’s “The Post” are among the Yid-themed nominees. Read the full list of Jewish-related nominees here.
