The JCC Manhattan has been renamed the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan in memory of the late philanthropist who was a supporter of the Upper West Side institution for two decades.

Ms. Meyerson, who died a year ago in Dallas of ovarian cancer at 76, was a Texas native who early in her life divided her time between New York City and Santa Fe, N.M. She and her husband Morton were contributors to many civic and Jewish causes in Dallas.

The renaming of the JCC follows a $20 million gift to the institution, one of the largest to a Jewish community center in the United States, from the Marlene and Morton Meyerson Family Foundation.

The JCC, founded in 1989, serves more than 55,000 people a year. Ms. Meyerson’s daughter, Marti, has served as a founder and board chair of the JCC.
