Student: Anti-terrorist art censored

A former Penn State student accused the university of censoring his art, which focused on Islamic terrorism. In a complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court of Pennsylvania, Joshua Stulman claimed that his First Amendment rights were violated when the administration cancelled an exhibit of his paintings, “Portraits of Terror,” according to a release from the Boston-based David Project. According to the complaint, several professors labelled the series of paintings – based on news articles, photographs and research – inflammatory and anti-Islamic. Art professor Robert Yarber allegedly told Stulman that Arab students on campus were the victims of his paintings and that he was “calling all Arabs murderers and deliberately misleading uninformed university students to promote the idea that all Arabs are terrorists.” According to the complaint, Yarber also said that “Israel is a terrorist state” and that “Israel had no right to exist.”
