Odessa Jewish University graduated 28 students with bachelor’s degrees in Jewish studies or Jewish education. OJU admitted its first class of students in 2003 and today teaches 150
students from Ukraine and other former Soviet countries.The school curriculum combines standard government-approved program on the humanties with with classes on Hebrew, Jewish tradition,
history and culture. Graduates are expected to work as teachers of Hebrew and Jewish
tradition. The university operates under the aegis of Ohr Sameach, a local Orthodox congregation, and does not charge its students any tuition.
