JERUSALEM (JTA) — Ninety-seven percent of Israeli adults surveyed know the Jewish date of the Holy Temple’s destruction, a survey reported.

In addition, two-thirds of Israelis would like to see the Temple rebuilt, according to a Ynet-Gesher survey released on Thursday, the fast day of Tisha B’Av.

Some 64 percent of Israeli adults surveyed, including about 47 percent of secular Israelis, said they would like to see the Temple in Jerusalem rebuilt.

Eighty percent of respondents said they think it is justified to mark an event that happened 2,000 years ago, while 13 percent said only events related to the modern state of Israel should be marked.

The telephone survey of 516 Israeli adults has a margin of error of 4.3 percent.
