(JTA) — President Obama will meet with Jordan’s King Abdullah at the White House three days before Benjamin Netanyahu.
The meeting on May 17 will discuss current events taking place in the Arab world, according to reports.
"The president looks forward to discussing with King Abdullah the latest regional developments, ways to cooperate on political and economic reform, and ways to deepen our partnership with Jordan on a wide variety of issues in the bilateral relationship," the White House said in a statement.
"The president also welcomes continuing consultations with King Abdullah on the pursuit of a comprehensive peace in the Middle East," the statement continued.
Abdullah in the past has been involved in Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. In March, anti-government protests in Jordan calling for reform caused Abdullah to announce reforms.
Obama and Netanyahu will meet May 20 at the White House. Netanyahu in an address to both houses of Congress is expected to offer his plans for Israeli-Palestinian peace.
