JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli settler was arrested in connection with an attack on an Israeli military base in the West Bank.
The Petach Tikvah Magistrate Court on Tuesday ordered Alex Ostrovsky, 27, of the Eli settlement near Ariel held for five more days. Ostrovsky had been arrested a day earlier in connection with the recent vandalism, which was classified as a "price tag" attack.
Ostrovsky, a member of the Garin Ha’arim Ha’ivriot group, which advocates the return of Jewish settlers to West Bank towns, has denied any involvement in the attack.
In the attack, 12 army vehicles were damaged and graffiti referring to the demolition days earlier of three permanent homes in the outpost of Migron, as well as the words "price tag," were found on the base. Price tag refers to the strategy that extremist settlers have adopted to exact a price in attacks on Palestinians in retribution for settlement freezes and demolitions or for Palestinian attacks on Jews.
