WASHINGTON (JTA) — President Obama suspended for another six months a law requiring the U.S. Embassy in Israel to move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Obama on Tuesday cited the “national security interests of the United States” in waiving the 1995 law.
Obama’s predecessors, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, also routinely exercised the waiver, citing the U.S. interest in advancing Israeli-Arab peace and in keeping the region calm.
